Get Feature Length by Script

Hello Vitruvi,

can you tell me how you create/read the feature length of a design element? I can transform the_geom and read out a length (using a backend script), but I have small differences depending on the coordinate system used during transformation. Can you tell me how you transform it and calculate the feature length?
